These findings seem to suggest that, only when something has been experienced by each mode of perception, can it be recognised individually by any one perceptual mode. Also, and perhaps more significant for the application and development of tactile imagery, when visual perception is removed from the initial investigation of the pieces, tactile perception becomes highly experiential.
